 | Hi, everyone, Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that our
application for the Muskoka Business Development Corporation grant was received quite
favourably. MBDC are "impressed by the growth that the Honey Harbour/Port Severn Area
Chamber of Commerce has already accomplished and the support you have gained throughout
the business community. ...They are pleased to be able to contribute $5,000 towards the
purchase of your Chamber of Commerce Business Signs." MARIANNE

 | Good news! Cass Bell has informed us that he found the old chamber of
commerce incorporation information. We have decided to adopt the old charter rather than
create a new one. The only significant change is that the word 'District' replaces 'Area'
in our proposed new name. Changes to our web site and documentation will be occuring soon. |

Southeast
Georgian Bay
– the chamber with drive! On
April 6, 2006, Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation (Muskoka
Futures) approved a one time grant funding of $4,000 to the Southeast Georgian
Bay Chamber of Commerce. This
Muskoka Community Initiative grant will go towards the publication of their
first annual Directory.
The Southeast Georgian Bay Chamber, formerly the
Honey
Harbour
, Port Severn and District Chamber of Commerce, has developed and designed a
2006 Directory to help promote businesses and services in the area. While this chamber of commerce has
close to 100 members, they have the drive and the spirit of thousands. The
2006 Directory is a bold new step for this organization and is now available
at all chamber member locations, through
Muskoka Tourism
,
Ontario
Tourism in
Barrie
and at local hot spots.
As Jan Lucy, Muskoka Futures Chair, puts it, “This project is an excellent
example of how a dedicated organization, of any size, can take an idea and
make it a reality, just by identifying and accessing local funding
opportunities. The whole purpose of the Muskoka Community Initiative is to
support community economic development; whether it is promoting local
businesses and services, enhancing community programs or stimulating
volunteerism and community spirit.”
